Mandatory tachograph from 1 July 2026 Is your van all sorted?

From 1 July 2026 European legislation for company cars is changing. The tachograph obligation is being extended to vehicles from 2.500 kg transporting goods internationally. This means that many companies driving vans across borders will soon be required to have a Smart Tachograph 2 must use.

For many businesses, this change has a direct impact.
Those not in order in time risk fines, downtime and administrative problems.

Does this also apply to your vehicle?

These regulations apply to:
Panel vans (like Sprinters)
International transport
Vehicles Maximum mass > 2.5 tonnes
Including trailers or semi-trailers

Are there exceptions?

There is a limited exception for vehicles between 2.5 and 3.5 tonnes, but only when:

I not transported by third parties (your own goods only)
To rule No main activity of the driver
